We’ve been hiring bikes on the banks of the Yarra River since 1976 and running tours for 14!We’re located on the main Yarra riverbank bike trail – in the beautiful bluestone vaults right below Federation Square.
As well as a fleet of light 21-speed hybrid bikes with easy step-through frames and adjustable seat heights we have tandems, baby seats, child buggies, children’s bikes and touring bikes with racks and saddlebags for anyone heading out of town.
We’re open every day of the year, except Christmas Day, from 10am to 5pm weather permitting.
As well as personal service and advice we offer free helmets, locks, sunscreen, repair kits and a great free map of Melbourne’s Top 5 rides (right) with every hire.

If you need to leave luggage, strollers etc. at the shop while you go for a ride that’s no problem and no charge.
We’ll fill your drink bottle for free, or ice water is available for just $2 a bottle. We provide free sunscreen. Our loyal customers include singer Rod Stewart, Qantas and Tourism Victoria as well as Melbourne’s top private and state schools.
Our tours have featured on The Great Outdoors, Postcards, Coxy’s Big Break and Getaway as well as countless overseas TV programs from Indonesia to Holland.
Our tours have a guaranteed maximum of 8 riders, so you get personal attention from a great local guide.
Our tour guides treat all guests like friends visiting from out of town with whom we want to share all our favourite Melbourne things… from food and café culture to sport, laneways, parks, rooftop bars and more.
After taking our Real Melbourne Bike Tour you can keep your bike free of charge for the rest of the day… and enjoy half-price bike hire for your entire Melbourne stay (up to a week).
